The most beautiful swimming opportunities by the sea

To the south of the Villa lies the Golfo di Baratti, also known as the “Caribbean of the Tuscany”. Here you can find many wonderful beaches. For example, close to the harbour of Populonia, which in Etruscan times is said to have been the center of the metallurgic industry, supplying the different large cities of the ancient empire with metals (silver, iron) from the island of Elba.

To the west lies San Vincenzo and the „Parco Costiero di Rimigliano“ with its 350 acres of white sand and Mediterranean flora - its holly oaks and its characteristic umbrella shaped pine trees. You can reach these beaches on the Via della Principessa in direction of Piombino. The different entrances to the beach are numbered. Like for example No. 4 where you can sit comfortably under the shades of the trees and get yourself some refreshments. And people with handicap can easily access the beach at this point.

And a bid further to the north you can find many places along the rocky coast of Castiglioncello from which you can jump from the cliffs into the sea. The less courage’s can get by foot to the water: of all the beautiful spots the beach of Cala Violina is definitely worth a visit. This beach at the Maremma coast with its crystal-clear waters nestles itself into a wonderful landscape. The sand, grounded quartz, “sings” when walking on it. And the sound it creates sounds like a violin.

Walking and Hiking

The Villa Sant’Anna lies in the heart of the Cornia valley, one of the greenest and lushest parts of the Tuscany. It is therefore the ideal starting point for walks and hikes into surrounding areas or to Sassetta. Some routes start directly on our grounds.

To avoid getting lost we recommend to download the hiking-app 'Trailforks' from the Google Play or Apple App Store – for the best and most detailed hiking-, horse riding- and mountain biking trails.

Cycling

Soft hills, wide plains and dense forests – the diverse landscape of the Val di Cornia offers the ideal terrain for bike tours on all levels. There is a superb road bike route leading from Sassetta to Suvereto – winding downhill and shady in summer time. Mountain bikers can find their routes in the adjacent forest areas on forest roads or single tracks.

Horse Riding

On horseback amid nature: There are many areas where riding is possible. Only a few minutes away are riding stables where you can borrow a horse or book a guided tour.

Playing Golf

Golf players are also welcome at Villa Sant’Anna. We have attractive green fee arrangements with the golf courses close by.

The Golfclub “Toscana Pelagone”, which can be reached within 30 Minutes has earned itself a good reputation and is visited by many internationally known players. For more information visit golfclublecapanne.it

Not far away as well is the renowned golf club at Punta Ala. It exists since 1964 and is famous for its spectacular seascape.
